What is Luck?

Woody Allen famously said that “80% of success is showing up.” Take a different road home from work, go to a bar and order a club soda, put yourself in new positions to observe chances.

If you are in the right location, it’s time to understand your options. Starting conversations, picking up an abandoned book, or even jumping in on karaoke can lead to new experiences.

Any situation you put yourself in has a cost. Money, embarrassment, physical pain, health issues, etc; But what can they bring back to you? Are these temporary setbacks to you?

You went on a limb, took a different route, had a life experience and ate crow because of it. Everyone loses at some point, it’s important to know that you can only win if you played the game.

Things Happen

The history of humanity is frought with ‘what-if’s and chance situations. Constantly we ask ourselves how things happen to us or why we have fortune, whether bad or good. Whether it is fate or chance or chaos or luck, there are numerous ways that we justify and rationalize situations by chalking them up to something else.

Whether it’s Grecian adventures to see the Oracle of Delphi, Vikings throwing runes to calm the waters or sacrificing animals to ensure a good harvest, people have always been trying to be on the right side of something.

We define Luck not as an intangible thing that might grace you with favor, but rather a system in which we can recognize opportunities and play to our strengths.

Things happen. With or without reason, good or bad.

We’re not telling you that you can roll dice better or be able to hold a seat at the poker table, but instead we are intent on showcasing the fact that these opportunities fly by you every single day.

Whether it is being within ear shot of the boss who’s discussing a promotion, taking a new road on the way to work, or having a near miss with a menu item that you’re not sure will agree with your stomach.

Every decision you make, big or small, has an effect on your life and how you will proceed through it. With time, people, and the elements, there are numerous chances for you to make a change in the right direction.
